Although a great number of boarding establishments endeavor to provide them with the best care, some places that people choose to leave their pets offer little more than a concrete shelf. So while you are away enjoying the sun, your best friend is barely able to turn around, frightened, frustrated, and very alone. It was her outrage at these places and her great love of animals that drove Laurie to create Kitty Sitter - an ethical, caring and affordable alternative that sees trusted and reliable carers looking after your pet in your own home. Since Cat Rescue formed we have not even considered leaving the house for more than a day, but over the weekend we had a sudden family emergency which saw us travelling to Hobart. Needless to say we were extremely worried about leaving our rescued animals, but equally did not want to overwhelm our carers. Fortunately we were able to contact Cat Rescue volunteer Laurie who we knew ran Kitty Sitter. She immediately rushed over to our house for an extensive tour of our shelter, and did not even blink at the piles of litter trays!! Not only did Laurie spend time cuddling and playing with our cats, she cleaned litter trays, food bowls, and was exceptional with remembering the individual and special care that each cat required - all down to the timid and unsocialised cats! Having Laurie meant that we were able to deal with our family emergency without having to worry about the cats and this gave us a great peace of mind. And when we arrived home exhausted late last night the house was clean, the cats were happy and we were able to breathe a great sigh of relief.
